Hurricane Irene

A month has gone by and I only posted twice, what a slacker. August has been a busy month but I will have to back post due to the most recent excitement of out first hurricane for out littleta. He did great and besides not getting to play wii I think he had no idea what was going on. The wind started at 2:30am on Saturday but did not get bad till 4:30am. Then the fun started when we lost electricity at 7:30...breakfast time. No worries daddy set up the generator and he made coffee and waffles. The rest of the day was spent trying to past the time until little man and myself took a 3 hour nap and then played some more.

 After enough of being inside we drove around the neighborhood to see any damage, there were lots of down trees but here was some of the more OMG stuff.

 With no electricity BBQ is the best bet, so hamburgers it was.

 On Sunday we were still out of electricity and it was getting HOT, so we broke out the old school window unit.

 We BBQ again and little man helped clean out the pit from the night before

 We enjoyed steak by hurricane lamp

 All crashed in the den....the electricity did come on around 9pm on Sunday night.

Thank goodness for a generator and a husband who knows how to use it we got the watch TV, have fans, and keep the freezer and refrigerator running most of the time. We still don't have cell service at the house but I can't complain because the people around the corer still don't have electricity.
